Calcutta Foundation Orchestra

Calcutta Foundation Orchestra, a training-cum-community Chamber Orchestra, comprising young string players from an orphanage, Oxford Mission, is Calcutta Foundation’s oldest project, started by Mrs. Fran Caterini. In 1994, Mrs. Caterini moved back and Mrs. Shamlu Dudeja took over Calcutta Foundation Orchestra. Despite the fact that Mrs. Dudeja was totally ignorant about Western Classical Music, she received a lot of support from visiting musicians who volunteered to come to Calcutta and trained CFO musicians.

During the tenure of Former Governor of West Bengal, His Excellency Gopal Krishna Gandhi, the orchestra started playing as Calcutta Chamber Orchestra supported by Calcutta School of Music.
