PARTIES FOR CHILDREN FROM WELFARE SCHOOLS

Parties for children from welfare schools were held, on a smaller scale, on the lawns of the Oxford Mission.  In the last 4 years, the Foundation has held two parties a year, on the spacious lawns of the Raj Bhavan, for upto 1,200 children at a time, in March, around Holi, and in November/December, on Children’s Day or  Christmas.

Entertainment has been provided by Usha Uthup, Tanusree Shankar, Sandeep Vyas, Lee Alison Sibley, Anjan Datta, a Japanese Jazz Band and, recently, a human puppet show by an Early Learning Centre, KANGAROO KIDS, New Alipore. At these parties, the children get refreshments  in addition to a small gift sponsored by friends of Calcutta Foundation. The highlight of these parties is not only the entertainment programme, but the fact that the children get a chance to have the First Couple amongst them.
